Shahnaz Hussain Henna Review

Hello gorgeous people!!! Last I blogged in June. 2013 that was....and today its 3rd Jan 2014 :P sorry for the looong gap!!! But today I'm gonna review something that I've been wanting to review since a long time. Its Shahnaz Hussain's henna precious herb mix. I'm sure all of you have heard this lady's name. Somehow, I don't like her hair :P it looks like a lion' mane to me!

The key ingredients are :  Amla (Emblica officinalis) 1.0%, Neem (Melia azadirachta) 1.50%, Shikakai (Acacia concinna) 2.0%, Babul Gond (Acacia arabica) 1.0%, Mehendi (Lawsonia alba) 93.0%, Base q.s. to make it 100%.

Okay coming to the review........

The packet is sparky green in colour and has Shahnaz Hussain's pic on it.

Many people say that henna can make your hair rough or it is not suitable for dry hair. But you need not worry because I'm gonna tell you a li'l secret (P.S. This is my secret behind using henna :P ). If you have dry,
rough and unmanageable hair, soak henna overnight in FULL FAT MILK.  If your hair is normal, you can soak it in warm water. Remember not to use very hot water.
Okay, now how I soak it......
  • If you want to colour your hair with henna it is better to soak it in iron pan or kadhai as we call it.
  • Take henna and milk/water as per your hair length and thickness.
  • Mix it until it is free of clumps.
  • Cover it with a lid and keep it overnight.
This is how the mixture will look like. The consistency should not be very runny. It shouldn't be very thick also. It would resemble a smooth paste. that way its easy to apply.

The mixture has military green colour and I love the smell of henna. Next day, put a towel on your shoulder or wear any old dress before you apply it because applying henna can be messy (it is messy actually). Cover whole of your hair taking sections and put it on a bun above your head. you can tie it with a clutch if you want. Take a plastic wrap and cover your head. Those of you who want colour can keep it till the muddy helmet above your head hardens, rest can keep it for around an hour or so. Wash it properly.
Another trick for those who want colour that lasts longer. The day you apply henna, just wash your hair with plain water. No Shampoo. When your hair is damp, apply generous amount of oil (your choice of oil but I apply amla or coconut oil) and shampoo and condition your hair the next day.
You won't believe the sheen in your hair. This is by far the best henna I have ever used. My hair looks so soft and smooth and the effect lasts for about 2-3 weeks. If you want healthy hair, apply henna once a month. It even helps in growing longer hair.
Many people add yogurt and egg for conditioning. Somehow I prefer henna without these as it already contains few herbs. Many apply oil prior to applying henna. I don't. You can always go ahead and try.
If you want black hair, add curry leaves juice to it. For blonde highlight, add turmeric; for red, you can you can add beetroot juice; for brown, add coffee powder.

Pros:
  • Makes hair soft and manageable
  • Adds a burgundy colour that I totally love
  • The effect lasts long
  • Really conditions the hair
  • The smell
  • Affordable
Cons:
  • The packaging. I feel it would have been better if it came in a tub. But who cares!

Price:  200g for Rs. 165.  100g for Rs. 90. (I got the 100g pack for Rs. 85....hehehe)

Will I buy it again?  YESSSSSS........I love this product! :) :)

I hope you'll like it when you use it. It's really worth a try. If it doesn't work, I'm sure it'll not damage anything because it is HERBAL.

I'll see you all very sooon I promise :) Till then, just let me know what you feel about this product :)

DIY Treatment For Smoothening Hair

So gorgeous people out there......how have you been! Yeah I know I'm a bit lazy when it comes to typing but here I am with a new DIY treatment to tame your frizzy locks. This one is super easy and super effective.
The best part about DIY treatment is you get all the required ingredients in your household. Its cheap and has no side effects.
So they, who have rough and frizzy hair like me, this one is a must must must must try! At times, especially in the middle of the week hair tends to become dull and it becomes hard taming the mane. Anytime when you feel your hair needs to be pampered give this one a try. I'm sure you'll love it.

P.S. I can't give you pictures for this treatment right now. I promise to update it soon :)

Ingredients you'll need:
  • 2 extremely ripe bananas (I need 2. This may vary depending on your hair length.)
  • 1/4th cup of full fat milk
  • 1-2 tablespoons of honey (optional)
By now, I'm sure you've guessed how to make it. Yes you're right. Put everything in a blender and blend till there are no lumps. Yes its as easy as that. This will look like a banana smoothie (I guess its a banana smoothie). They who looove to eat bananas (for example ME) remember you'll have to apply it on your hair so DON'T DRINK IT ......LOL.

Now section your hair and apply it all over your head. Cover it in a shower cap and keep for 20-30 mins. Then wash it off using your regular shampoo. And don't forget to condition your hair.

I use Dove's Intense Repair Shampoo and the same range's conditioner.

After you'r hair will dry (let it air dry.....stay away from electric dryers) you'll notice a significant amount of less frizz. An you're hair texture will be unbelievably beautiful.

This one is my absolute favourite DIY hair treatment. I do this once a week and yeah my hair is much more manageable. So I insist give this one a try and let me know how it worked for you! I'm sure you'll love it. :)

Till then.....TLC <3

DIY Homemade Treatment For Healthy Hair

Helloooo my lovely friends! How have you been lately??? I am sure life is pretty good....well atleast mine is :P :P. Off late I have been experimenting with few DIY treatments and in the next few days I'm gonna share those that yield the best results. So today I am going to write about one such DIY treatment for hair.
Basically this treatment is for dry hair, in case you have normal hair that is not dry then also you can do this treatment. But those of you who have oily scalp and hair I would suggest not to go for it.
This one is super easy to make and you will find all those ingredients in your home (that's the best part of DIY treatment right?). You will need only 3 ingredients.
  • AMLA OIL
  • GLYCERINE
  • ALMONDS
In this treatment I have used Dabur Amla Hair oil and Dabur Gulabari Glycerine.

Now coming to the ingredients........
  • AMLA OIL : This strengthens hair and helps prevent greys. I have used Dabur Amla Oil. It has 50% amla oil and 40% mineral oil. Mineral oil helps in conditioning and smoothening the hair shaft.

  • GLYCERINE : It adds moisture. It heals dry and brittle ends.
  • ALMONDS : Strengthens hair.
In short, blending the goodness of all these ingredients you will get a hair rejuvenating treatment. When your hair looks dull and lifeless, you'll know its the time to use this one!

Take a steel bowl. The base of this treatment is Amla Oil. So take Amla oil as per your hair length and thickness. To it add around 1-2 teaspoons of glycerine. Chop the almonds and add it too. Now put the bowl on low flame and heat it. You will notice that the almonds are getting fried in it. Let it simmer that way for a minute. Put off the flame and let it cool down a little. Pick out the almond pieces. Now that's the oil that you are going to apply on your hair. Apply it in your hair and make sure the oil is still warm. Leave it that way.
I kept it overnight since my hair is too much dry and curly and frizzy. It's recommended that you keep it in your hair atleast for 2hrs minimum. Then shampoo and condition as usual.
Okay, now a mild shampoo wont take out the oil so use a thick shampoo. I used Sunsilk Black.

This treatment left my hair soft and manageable. I have only used it once and have seen much less frizz. I'm planning to use this every alternate weekend. Don't use it every week as the glycerine might leave your hair heavy.

After all of this, all I can say is this treatment is a must for them who have dull and dry hair. Try it out. I'm sure you'll love it. :)

Keya Seth Shine & Silk Spa Shampoo Review

Hello lovely people, how are you'll doing???? Great I'm sure!!! Well, here I am with my second post. I am sure most of you haven't heard of this brand (or whatever) it is but its quite famous here in Kolkata. Keya Seth is into aromatherapy and she launched this shampoo quite a long time back now but I just got hold of this, the last week.
I have extremely dull, dry hair. My hair feels soft when I touch it but is not at all manageable and frizz prone. So, I face bad hair day almost everyday. At one point of my life I totally gave up on it. At that time it looked like copper wires. Then after prolong oiling and few home-made hair packs, my hair is relatively softer. Oh! I forgot to tell. I even coloured my hair and that made it damaged too.
For a long time I have been using Dove shampoo (the Intense Repair one) and its conditioner does absolute wonders to my hair. I was just coming back home one day, when I saw this product on the window of a shop, and I don't know what got into me, but I went ahead and brought it. This is how the bottle looks.

The bottle is almost cone shaped. The shampoo inside is ocean green in colour. For the list of ingredients, check out the next picture :)

I am giving here again the list of the ingredients. It has blend of essential oils like lavender, rosemary and tea tree along with lemon and honey. It also has ritha, methi, tea leaf, milk protein extracts. Now lavender and rosemary are known for softening coarse hair. Tea tree oil controls oil secretion. Ritha and methi they clean hair. Milk protein softens the hair and makes it manageable. And we definitely know lemon and honey are good conditioners for hair. And all these are infused in a shampoo base that has no paraben and very less sulphur. Its a total herbal shampoo and extremely mild.

Now coming back to myself, this is a miracle product for me. It did wonders to my hair in just one was. This shampoo doesn't lather up much (in case you have oiled your hair, don't use this shampoo as it won't remove oil totally and you would end up emptying the bottle). This product is reasonable too. And I never expected a shampoo to smell sooooo good like this one. It has a lemony+flowery kind of smell that lingers and trust me you'd love it. For people who can't bear strong fragrances, this one is a must try.
What I totally love about this product is its ability to control frizz even upto 4 days. It made my hair manageable and gave it an unbelievable shine.

Okay, now, how to use it!
You have to lather up your hair and keep it like that for 5 minutes and then wash it off.
You would instantly see your hair shining. By shining I mean MIRROR SHINE.

I would really recommend this shampoo to everyone who faces bad hair days. Trust me guys, THIS IS IT!

PROS :
  •  Its reasonable. you get 200ml for Rs. 130.
  •  It won't create build up in your hair even if you use daily. The bottle says it should be used twice or thrice a week, but if you want you can use daily. But I gurantee you, that won't be required.
  • It leaves your hair silky and shiny.
  • Its all herbal, so no side-effects and definitely no harsh chemicals. Its gentle on your hair.
CONS :
  •  Its not available everywhere in India.
  • If you have oiled your hair, then sadly it won't remove the oil.
  • It doesn't lather in your hair much. For some it may be a drawback but for me its perfectly okay! :)
Now, its RATING TIME...........!!!!!
I would rate this product 4.7/5.
Trust me guys, its a must try. I have never been this GAGA over a product. This range also comes with a conditioner. I am thinking to buy that too. Would come back soon to you guys! Till then, take care and be happy :))

Sunsilk Silky Straight Shampoo And Conditioner Review

Hello friends! This is my first post here and I am trying to review the Sunsilk Silky Straight Shampoo and Conditioner.

To begin with, I have kind of a confusing hair type. Confusing because, it feels verryyyyy soft when I touch it but looks all dry and damaged. And to add with it, its curly and frizzy. So I guess I have dry hair type.
Since I was a kiddo I loved straight hair but my mom never allowed me to go to parlour and straighten it permanently. I have grown up now and now I understand that chemicals are extremely bad for hair and excessively damaging. I have got many many many compliments for my curly hair still at times I feel its awesome to have silky straight hair. So I was madly waiting for this product to launch. And finally, on Sunday I got hold of a free sample of this shampoo and conditioner.

The first one is the shampoo and the second sachet is of the conditioner. And I am really sorry for the blurry images.

Now, as the product claims, it says it would keep your hair aligned, i.e. it would just keep your hair frizz free. In my case, I got along with the hype and thought it might straighten the hair for atleast 24 hours. But NO it doesn't.

The shampoo looks pretty much similar to the Sunsilk Thick and Strong. It has a pinkinsh tint and smells very fruity. It smells exactly like any Garnier Fructis shampoo. I really like the smell. For few the smell might appear to be very strong but for me, I loved it.

The conditioner is not very thick in consistency and is white in colour. Unlike the shampoo it has very very little smell that doesn't smell fruity.

MY EXPERIENCE WITH IT :

Just after shampooing my hair really didn't feel any softer or starighter. But after using the conditioner, my hair indeed became softer but again not straighter. I ma giving you the pic, it would help you understand.

Your hair will look best when its wet but as it dries it might stay aligned but definitely its not becoming straight.

Garnier Fructis had launched a similar shampoo. That worked in a better way for me. Hair didn't become straight but it definitely became more silky.

Now, its rating time :) :) :)

RATING
  • I would give this shampoo 2.5/5. It really didn't work that well for me. For others it might.
  • Will I buy it again? A big NO.
I hope you liked my first post. Eagerly waiting for your response. Would love to reach out to you guys. :) :)
